Gas & Chemical Engineer

Summary

The Gas & Chemical Engineer is responsible for the unified management of facility-wide bulk electronic gas, specialty gas, chemical, acid, and alkali delivery systems. This role oversees hazardous material infrastructure design, system reliability, operational safety, explosion-proof compliance, and technical standards development to ensure safe and stable production support.

Job Duties

  • New construction project Engineering Management: Review schemes and construction drawings of Bulk Gas, Specialty Gas and industrial chemical liquid supply systems for new cleanrooms; supervise on-site construction, pipeline purging, pressure holding commissioning, final acceptance and handover, and close all construction and commissioning problems.
  • Full-range technical management of hazardous medium systems: Take overall charge of plant-wide specialty process gas, industrial chemical, acid/alkali liquid and high-purity reagent delivery pipeline networks. Cover specialty gas VMB/VMP cabinets, chemical supply stations, waste gas & waste liquid collection systems, explosion-proof ventilation and emergency medium shut-off interlock systems.
  • Equipment Reliability & Lifecycle Management: Establish exclusive technical standards for gas & chemical systems, formulate periodic maintenance, monthly inspection and annual calibration schedules for equipment. Build full-lifecycle equipment ledgers, pipeline history records and closed-loop ledgers for leakage hazard rectification.
  • Standardization and risk control: Develop standardized SOPs for gas & chemical operation teams. Conduct special technical training and work permit review for hazardous medium handling, hot work and confined space operations. Prevent safety incidents such as medium leakage, liquid cross-contamination, fire & explosion, toxic gas exposure and corresponding production shutdown risks via technical governance.
  • Cross-department coordination: Collaborate closely with EHS, Production, Equipment and Quality teams to implement hazardous material regulatory requirements and factory safety management rules; organize regular safety audits and continuous improvement activities for gas & chemical systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Environmental Engineering.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in industrial bulk/specialty gas, chemical distribution, semiconductor cleanroom hazardous material management.

  • Familiar with EHS hazardous material regulations, emergency response flows and risk assessment methodologies.

  • Practical experience of on-site operation for toxic, flammable, corrosive gas and chemical systems in cleanroom.

  • In-depth understanding of specialty gas piping, chemical delivery skids and hazardous substance regulatory compliance.

  • Formal working experience in semiconductor wafer fab gas & chemical station.

  • Rich experience cooperating with EHS department on safety audit, hazard identification and incident rectification.

  • Basic knowledge of gas monitoring PLC, automatic interlock and hazardous medium real-time monitoring systems.

Work Environment

  • Respond to off-hour emergency calls
  • Available to work overtime or weekend when necessary
  • Fabrication Facility/Cleanroom environment
  • Provide 24/7 Production support; Accept emergency calls for gas leakage, chemical overflow and hazardous medium system failures after work hours.
  • Daily work in in cleanroom, bulk gas yard, specialty gas cabinet area, chemical supply room and waste liquid treatment station.
  • Mandatory use of chemical resistant PPE, respirators and explosion-proof tools when handling corrosive, toxic and flammable media.
  • Frequently participate in confined space entry, hot work and hazardous material replacement operations with strict safety procedure execution.

Location

This position will be on-site based in Sugar Land, Texas.
