EHS Engineer (12pm - 9pm shift)

Summary

Entry level position to assist EHS officer to ensure the health safety and environmental compliance at the facility. The position will require conscientious, dedicated person that will pay attention to details because the wellbeing of others will depend on them. Will need to be available some weekends and nights, as needed.

Job Duties

  • Assist with all aspects of environmental health and safety task at the facility.
  • Duties will include monitoring, process safety, emergency response, inspections and audits, waste management, training, record keeping and regulatory compliance.
  • Work with EHS Manager to develop and implement on-site environmental, health, and safety protocols and procedures per general corporate policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with and oversee hazardous work to ensure the safety of employees and compliance with company, state, and federal requirements.
  • Review and update Standard Operating Procedures specific to hazardous waste operations at the site.
  • Conduct assignments such as EHS compliance audits, regulatory inspections, job training, chemical inventory assessments, job hazard analysis, and risk assessments.
  • Participate in Emergency Response Preparedness scenarios and support the site Emergency Response Team in an incident.
  • Provide EHS training programs designated.
  • Collect and track compliance records as requested.
  • Support day-to-day EHS operations in a fast-paced, cross-functional, and highly collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • An Associate's Degree or working experience with work certifications in lieu of degree is required. Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Safety, Ergonomics, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or Safety-related discipline a plus.
  • Minimum two years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous safety experience preferred.
  • Certification or training of First aid/CPR, emergency response experience, respirator, and SCBA Training, OSHA regulations, HAZWOPER is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office required; ability to formulate reports, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Ability to maintain absolute integrity and discretion due to the confidential and sensitive nature of the information.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willing to work different shifts and occasional weekends.
  • Willing to be on-call for emergencies.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • This position is located primarily in an office environment. At times the associate is required to sit for long periods.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate may need the ability to lift and carry loads up to 50 pounds, stand and/or walk for 10+ hrs. daily and climb stairs.
  • Subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100 for periods of more than one hour.
  • Subject to vibration. Exposure to movements of the extremities or whole body.
  • Subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat, or exposure to chemicals.
  • Upon occasion, the associate may be exposed to a manufacturing environment and required to wear personal protective equipment.

Location

This position will be on-site based in Sugar Land, Texas.
